Care tips for glass doors

Care instructions for our Sprinz glass doors, sliding doors and glass walls

How do I clean my glass doors?

Your SPRINZ glass door is easier to clean than you might think! Real glass offers clear advantages when it comes to cleaning. The high-quality handles and fittings are particularly easy to clean and are usually integrated flush with the surface of the glass for easy cleaning of the glass door.

As toughened safety glass can become scratched if handled incorrectly and impurities such as deposits can form, you should maintain the product regularly and correctly. For this reason, we have compiled the most important care tips for glass doors here.

General care tips for glass doors

The golden rule of cleaning is: the more regularly it is cleaned, the less effort is required. This is why dirt should be removed as quickly as possible before it can settle.

It is particularly important to avoid abrasive or scratchy materials. The soft sponges or chamois leather should be free of dust and other foreign bodies, as these could scratch the glass surface. To prevent this, we recommend cleaning with a damp cleaning cloth and without applying pressure to the glass, cleaning over a large area rather than selectively.

To remove larger soiling, the pane can be cleaned in advance with plenty of water. In the case of laminated safety glass (LSG), however, it is important to ensure that no water gets into the laminated glass of the door at the edges. With sliding glass doors, make sure that no water can penetrate the rails.

Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents. To avoid unpleasant surprises, cleaning agents should always be tested on an inconspicuous area before using them for the first time. This will ensure that the chemicals contained do not cause any damage to the surfaces.

Avoid soiling caused by oils, grease or similar viscous substances, as they are very difficult or impossible to remove.

Please note the different requirements of our glasses: Here you will find an overview with cleaning recommendations.

The most important tips summarized:

  • Clean all surfaces regularly. The older the dirt, the more difficult it is to remove
  • Use a soft sponge, chamois leather or a glass wiper for all surfaces
  • Clean with little pressure and over a large area with a damp cloth
  • Avoid cleaning the glass edges of laminated safety glass with too much moisture
  • Do not use aggressive cleaning agents, vinegar essence or cleaning agents with abrasives under any circumstances
  • Avoid soiling with oils, greases, silicones and other highly viscous substances, as these are difficult or impossible to remove without leaving any residue

Our tip: SpriPower care product

The SpriPower care product is particularly suitable for cleaning glass products with ceramic baked-on screen printing or for textured glass without matting. Its cleaning properties are particularly good for soiling caused by grease or oil.

FAQs on glass cleaning

Glass should be cleaned regularly to ensure that it shines for a long time and retains its transparency. This prevents dirt or other impurities from accumulating. Basically, the more often it is cleaned, the less maintenance is required.

Use water that is as limescale-free as possible. Distilled water is particularly suitable for this. If limescale stains do occur, you can clean the glass with a light mixture of vinegar and water to remove them. Subsequent dry wiping also prevents limescale deposits.

Limescale-free water helps to avoid plaster streaks or so-called "clouds". Do not use paper towels to dry and clean the glass. These contribute to the formation of clouds through abrasion, as they leave fiber dust on the glass.

Scratches on glass can be caused by incorrect cleaning. There are fine dust particles or sand on the glass. If too much pressure is applied when wiping, these will scratch the surface. Therefore, make sure you use a soft, damp cloth when cleaning to prevent this.

Sprinz glass is very easy to clean, which is why mild cleaning agents are sufficient. Clear water or a few drops of washing-up liquid are often sufficient.

Never use scouring agents, steel wool, cleaning agents with abrasive additives or agents containing acetic or citric acid or other chemicals of any kind, as they will damage the surfaces.
