Care tips for the bathroom

Tips and tricks for cleaning mirror cabinets, wall mirrors and glass bathroom furniture

Cleaning and care tips: How do I clean my bathroom properly?

The beautiful dream of a new bathroom has finally come true! Naturally, you want the products to look as good as new for as long as possible.

Our mirror cabinets, surface mirrors and bathroom furniture are made from a variety of different materials. Both the design and the choice of materials are primarily based on function and therefore use. When the products leave our factory, we pay attention to the highest quality. With the right care, you will therefore be able to enjoy them for a long time. Here you can find out the most important care tips and cleaning tricks for the bathroom.

General care tips for the bathroom

Our bathroom furniture is ideal for storing utensils for daily hygiene and cosmetics as well as cleaning products for your bathroom and much more. However, many of these products are aggressive: nail polish remover or pipe cleaners must therefore never be left open! These products release vapors that can damage mirror doors, handles, carcasses and other materials used.

As our products are particularly easy to clean, they require little cleaning effort. As a general rule, the more regularly minor soiling is removed, the easier cleaning is in general. For this reason, dry cleaning with a soft cloth is normally sufficient. For heavier soiling, moisten the cloth with clean water. No other cleaning agents are necessary. It is best to dry all surfaces completely afterwards.

The most important tips summarized:

    • Clean all surfaces regularly. The older the stains are, the more difficult they are to remove
    • Please do not allow stains to dry, but remove them immediately
    • Use soft, non-abrasive cloths for all surfaces.
    • Dry cleaning is best done with a clean, soft cloth (ideally a microfiber cloth or chamois leather).
    • For heavier soiling, moisten a clean cloth with clear water and then wipe everything completely dry.
    • Avoid scouring agents, steel wool, cleaning agents with abrasive additives, agents containing acetic or citric acid and other chemicals of any kind, as they will damage the surfaces.
    • Do not use razor blades, ceramic hob scrapers, steel wool, abrasive scouring pads, scouring milk or scouring powder.
    • Ensure adequate ventilation.

How do I clean mirrors properly?

Ideally, clean mirror and glass surfaces with clear water and a soft cloth. Thorough rinsing and rubbing dry will prevent plaster streaks. Also make sure to rub the mirror edges and rims completely dry. Water residues can cause stains as well as damage to the edges and frames.

Overview of care tips for mirror surfaces:

    • Clean with clear water and a microfiber cloth
    • Remove stains immediately; do not allow to dry
    • Thorough rinsing and wiping avoids streaks of plaster
    • Rub mirror edges and rims completely dry, as water residue can cause stains and damage to the edges and rims.

    Our tip: SoftShiner anti-fog spray

Mirrors are indispensable helpers in the bathroom for daily make-up or shaving. But after a long shower, they often fog up immediately in the bathroom. If you're in a hurry, you don't really have time to grab a hairdryer and blow the surface clear. We at SPRINZ have the perfect solution for such cases: the SoftShiner spray. It prevents water vapor from settling on the mirror surface.

And it is even multifunctional! The highly concentrated organic alcohol guarantees effortless and streak-free cleanliness. The long-lasting drainage effect provides lasting protection against dirt and limescale residue and makes cleaning much easier.

Clever use of the spray also helps in other areas. People who wear glasses are familiar with the problem: when you get on public transport or enter a building in winter, the rapid change between cold and warm air causes foggy lenses and impaired vision. If you clean your glasses with the SoftShiner beforehand, this will no longer happen to you!

Even if you drive an older car, your windows will mist up in winter. Depending on the model, the windows may even freeze up from the inside. Pre-treatment with SPRINZ anti-fogging agent can remedy this.

Other areas of application: Real glass showers, windows, conservatories and much more.

    FAQs on bathroom cleaning

As a general rule, you should clean the bathroom thoroughly once a week.

For glass surfaces, it is usually sufficient to wipe them with a damp cloth once a week. However, splashes and stains should be removed immediately to prevent them from drying. If necessary, clean the lighting covers and the outside of the cabinet once a week.

Whether the inside of the furniture needs to be cleaned depends on how often it is used and how dirty it is. However, it should be sufficient to completely wipe out the inside of the cabinet once every few months. You can also use this opportunity to check the shelf life of cosmetics and sort them out if necessary.

If drops of water land on the mirror surfaces, the body or the covers, they should be wiped away immediately. Clean the products with clean water and a microfiber cloth and then wipe all surfaces dry. No limescale residue will then remain.

To clean glass surfaces, use either new cloths or cloths that are free of soap residue. Cleaning cloths should never be washed with fabric softener and should be rinsed with plenty of clean water after washing to ensure that the detergent is completely removed. To be on the safe side, finish by rubbing the glass surface dry with a leather cloth.

As our products are particularly easy to clean, mild cleaning agents are completely sufficient. The credo: the milder, the better! Often even plain water is sufficient.

Never use scouring agents, steel wool, cleaning agents with abrasive additives or agents containing acetic or citric acid or other chemicals of any kind, as they will damage the surfaces. Furthermore, do not use razor blades, ceramic hob scrapers, steel wool, abrasive scouring pads, scouring milk or scouring powder.

The mishap has happened: something has leaked and, despite immediate cleaning, has left a pungent odor in the mirror or bathroom cabinet. A simple trick to counteract this is to place ground coffee in the cupboard. This binds odors and leaves behind an unmistakably pleasant aroma.
